Sustainable marketing

Thinking about using recycled or sustainable print in your marketing materials?
When you think about printing, what words come to mind? I guess that the words ‘eco-friendly’ and ‘sustainable’ are the last words you think of? Have you thought about the impact of digital marketing against your printed material? We are all aware of the environmental cost with recycling paper but screens need to be powered too. If you take a look at your marketing plan, could you swap items to more sustainable materials?
Print greener
If there’s a need to reflect the sustainable aspect in your marketing, using sustainable print can elevate your marketing to a different level.
Why use recycled papers?
There are three main choices in different grades of paper:
• Sustainably-sourced paper is made from a sustainable source.
The trees used in the manufacturing process were restored, ie. for every tree cut down, another one was planted in its place.
• Recycled paper is made from post-consumer waste rather than pulp from freshly cut trees.
As well as reusing paper pulp, recycling reduces greenhouse emissions and saves gallons of water.
• FSC-Certified paper, (Forestry Stewardship Council) promotes certification of more than 200 million hectares of forest.
When a paper is FSC-labelled, it comes from one of these certified world wide forests produced responsibly with long-term management in mind.
If you are trying to find the most eco-friendly paper for your business it is possible to find both options in one product, either as FSC 100% recycled or FSC Mixed. As you can see there are now more affordable ways to print using recycled or sustainable materials from printers that are now Net-zero or part of the FSC to offset the production of new paper.
Sustain your brand
Over the past year we’re more aware of the goal to meet net zero by 2050 in our everyday news. This article has been written to help you implement these steps into your everyday business. If you use sustainable materials for your marketing, it will send out a subliminal message about your business values. This may be beneficial if you’re in the sustainability sector or the business is moving towards making a better planet.
Creative print
• do you need business cards for networking events?
• are you going to an exhibition and need promotional leaflets, flyers or brochures?

Our tip would be to divide which marketing items you can print and which are best used for digital. Look at how your marketing is divided on each channel and it’s success. For example, with print you can use minimal information to direct people online and it’s useful to keep details to hand.
Why trust us?
Over the last year we’ve been working with BASIS (The British Association for Sustainable Sport) who provides expert help to sports clubs, venues and governing bodies to help them to understand their impacts, set targets and implement processes to improve their environmental performance. Here’s what the CEO had to say about working with us:
“Having worked with Jane and Nick to develop our new brand they were the obvious choice when we needed materials for our first in-person conference for a few years. Taking the time to get to know us as a client to understand our needs and how we want to be represented to our members customers and clients. The service was end-to-end including liaising with the printer. I found communication easy and responsive from ID Creative Design.”
Russell Seymour, BASIS CEO.
