Andrew Webb, Malvern Festival of Ideas
“There was a good understanding of our needs right from the initial meeting to clarify our short project timescales through to the launch. With regular communication, Jane was always on hand to address queries. ID Design have a list of trusted suppliers, which saved us time and also meant that designs were tailored to particular print media in the timescale. The final design translated seamlessly across our website and on various print material. ID Design is a friendly and cooperative business that listens to customer’s requirements and works in partnership with them to deliver a quality product.”

HOW WE HELPED A local festival ALIGN THEIR BRAND
The Malvern Festival of Ideas is a multi-disciplinary festival of talks, discussions and children’s activities based on a theme. The core team identified that they needed a stronger brand presence for 2024. We were invited to design a new visual identity and products aligned to all their marketing. Aligning your identity with your values is a crucial step to establish a clear direction that's coherent and consistent.
Founding ideas
The Festival team needed a simple, strong visual identity and a brand refresh to attract a higher calibre of speakers. The new identity needed to reflect their foundations, values and be future proof. A website overhaul was part of the whole project. We recommended our trusted partners Ethical Pixels to take on the development of the new website.
Our part started with presenting the first concepts to the team, followed with a few amends to refine the design. Having client feedback and discussing their ideas are an essential part of the design process. This steers the project and align everyone's ideas to create consistency, and a clear direction. The approved design uses a clean, expressive logo that is scalable. The three primary brand colours selected for the new branding are; a bright blue to signify ‘blue sky thinking’, green to represent the Malvern Hills and orange to reflect creativity.
These vibrant colours set the style for the brand guidelines including a new website. The development included a responsive, dynamic website to meet accessibility compliance to WCAG2.2 Level A.
The new branding captures the curiosity and diversity of the festival. This is used on videos, social media, brochures and printed banners to create a consistent and engaging brand.
Community engagement
The event places a strong emphasis on community engagement collaborating with schools and organisations within Malvern. The logo is more recognisable to reflect, inspire, and connect the community with the event. When you need a strong brand presence, this is the ideal time to rebrand and align your values.
